Carpe Diem - Sieze the day -Use the day to the maximum...utilize each moment doing what fits best so that the memoirs stay with you like repurcussions of a great guitar riff!!!
Someone has rightly said that "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder".Kihim, which is 9 Km's after Alibaug and about 120 Km's from Mumbai,is just one of those many beaches in the Konkan coast. Now how you utilize your time on such a place and savour the place's beauty is up to your level of enthusiasm and taste.
Kihim is not an overtly crowded beach. In case it's a long weekend, definitely there's a crowd...but most of the tourists are day travellers. So,by the evening, you can seep in the cosmic rays of the melting sunset in quiet solitude. The typical Tanga ride looks a little juvenile(as shown above in photo),but once you get on the carriage, its a nice feeling having the cool wind in your hair.
I have introduced Sharma Saab in my last post.He has an unique talent...He makes LETHARGY look classy:-).After lying in his hammock for hours,I somehow managed to get the horse to water. It was nice seeing him wetting his toes, and having an expression of already getting tired of the rigorous exercise:-).
Yes,that's me hanging from that parachute. The Parasailing at Kihim is along the beach, not on the water.Nevertheless, the experience is quite exhilirating. Moreover,if the parachute fills up with air during take off,you are bound to reach a hieght of at least 50-60 feet at least. The cost is 300 INR and it's worth a try.
Once you come down after the Parasailing have the Coconut water and its fresh cream.By the way,in the evenings having a vodka with coconut water can be a heavenly feeling.
Now,the most important thing to tell about Kihim is our accomodation-as it was that which made the trip memorable.Ivory Resorts, just on Kihim beach is unique in it's concept - the resort just has tents.Wait, there's another twist...the tents are luxury ones too, with A/C ,great modular bathroom and a grand bed too.One tent can be shared by two(For INR 5000 a night) and in case you want to stock one person more,it's 500 INR extra.
Even better is the sitting area outside the tent, with two easychairs to spread your backs on.I was anyways in the royal company of Sharma Saab, for whom lazing away is a way of life! You can contact Kiran(The Manager) of Ivory Resorts at 91-9833750002 to book rooms in your next trip.
The highlight of the trip(For which I dont have any photos) was the nightwalk on the beach at midnight. It's a feeling that I cant describe! The half moon lit night, the calm sea waters in the low tide,me sitting with my guitar on the sand...and humming away a mellow Chris Rea tune.mmmmm...isn't this bliss?
Between the eyes of love,I call your name,
Behind the guarded walls,I used to go.
Upon a summer wind,there's a certain melody.
Takes me back,to the place,that I know....
ON THE BEACH!
