Hyderabad has always been one of my favourite Indian Cities. I already visited it many times before and have written about my Hyderabad sojourn on Terrainspotter before. My last trip was a guided tour across Golconda, Salarjung , Charminar and thus I had very little time to relax. It was one historical monument after the other and I thoroughly enjoyed my last experience. You can read about it here . I was recently again in Hyderabad to give a Digital Workshop and this time I decided I will see one or two places with time in hand. Now the important thing was to boil down upon which two places. It was evening when I finished the workshop and I decided upon a stroll at the Hussain Sagar Lake with my wife and then after the digestive walk go to the world famous Paradise Restaurant at Secunderabad and relish in their Gastronomic Delights. I was not dissapointed with my Decision!
Hussain Sagar Lake is a sprawling lake and was built by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali in 1562. The lake is about 3.2 Km long and is said to be about 32 Ft deep. There is a large monolithic statue of the Gautam Buddha in the middle of the lake which was erected in 1992.The lake looks outstanding at night with the tall buildings at the shore eminating their lights into the water.

The Boating Counter at Hussain Sagar Lake
The illusion created by the lights on the water made it look as if there's a Bridge made out of lights on the water and the cars and jeeps are going above that. Try seeing it in my way next time you are there and let me know if it makes sense.
Once we had walked and strolled for an hour at the lake (Choose your area of the walk carefully because most of the places near the lakes are crowded), we decided to head for the world famous Paradise Biryani. I was extremely excited because I had heard lots about this place. In fact, when I asked the auto guy again does he know which place I am talking about, he looked at me as if I had insulted him! Anyway's Paradise Restaurant has many chain (Hitec City etc), but the original restaurant is in Secunderabad.

Paradise Restaurant boasts of the largest sitting area for a restaurant across India. There are various different blocks - Family, Non Family , Family A/C etc. The staff is extremely courteous and they look happy about their job. In fact another thing written on their menu is that most of the staff has been working with this restaurant for over a decade. Well in F&B business, that's some achievement!
