History, Culture and Food Enjoyed In Winters - Delhi
This post has been in the backlog for a long time. When I was in Mumbai, I always missed the enigma called Delhi where I started my career in 2003 and I used to always think about writing this article. When I came back to Delhi in 2011, I kind of started missing Mumbai's Humility and for some time - cursing Delhi's show off in the form of Concrete Malls, Rowdy Jats and the Crazy Hot Summers! And then along came the Winters in Delhi and it all just changed. Suddenly, Rowdy Jats bothered me no more...the Aunties in the malls started looking more hot...and the Concrete malls were replaced by the places that I will talk about today. So here we go as to how you can spend 12 hours in a Wintery Delhi...
Early morning walk at Qutub Minar :
There is of course lot of history on Qutub Minar and there are enough Wikipedia type articles to tell us that. What I can say is that it's a great place to walk around early mornings, especially in winters. Not too many touts around so you can go about doing your photography and getting lost in your thoughts...

The whole area around the Minar has been really well kept

Cultural Melee at Delhi Haat :
Delhi Haat is an open-air food plaza cum craft bazaar where people from all walks come to enjoy cuisines from all around the country and get a great bargain on clothes, Bags, Handicrafts etc.

Timetripping at Jantar Mantar :
Located in the middle of the busy and bustling Cannaught Palace is Jantar Mantar , an astronomical observatory build in the 17th century by Maharaja Jai Singh of Jaipur. Once again , the place is very well maintained by the authorities but one word of advice is to go a little early else the crowd kind of gets to you!

Late Lunch @ Karims :
Started in 1913, Karim's is a household name in Delhi for people who love good Non Veg. Located near Jama Masjid at Daryaganj, there are hosts of options to choose from : Mutton/Chicken Stew, Biryani, Sheer Maal(Sweet Roti), Raan(Lamb Leg Whole Cooked) and Burra(Burned Slow Cooked Ribs). If you are in Delhi and especially in winters, when digestive systems work better...dont miss out on this restaurant!

Digest out the Food @ Red Fort :
We have seen many many times the Red Fort during the Republic day Live Telecast on DD. Going there and reliving the moments is another thing altogether on a chilly winter afternoon!

Watcing the Sunset @ Humayun's Tomb :
This was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent, and is located in Nizamuddin East, Delhi, India, close to the Dina-panah citadel also known as Purana Qila, that Humayun founded in 1533. It was also the first structure to use red sandstone at such a scale.

Theatre in the Evening @ Lodhi Road :
Named after the Lodhi Gardens, Lodhi Road is the hub of Cultural centres.I went to one such cultural centre(The Islamic Centre) to watch an evening theatre show by an up and coming director! It's a mind boggling experience seeing actors doing acting in one single take!

Finish your great day by visiting India Gate :
That's what regular delhites do all the time...their favorite timepass at night is to visit India gate. Reason : It's a short trip, lot of place to sit about and the nighttime India Gate that's as beautiful as always!
