Vignettes Of Goa - Roaming at Fountainhas!
At Terrainspotter, we have started with this new series called 'Vignettes Of Goa' through which we will try to show you many glimpses of India's favourite all year round Travel Destination.
So let's start...Did we ever tell you that in Goa there is a place in Panaji called Fountainhas...that takes you to the laid back old days...that reminds you of the "Good ol susegad life"?

Lost In Time at Fountainhas
Fountainhas, which means small fountains is located at the heart of Panaji(Reach the Panaji Church and then ask someone) and has mostly the catholic community(of Portuguese Descent). The place has been listed in the Lonely Planet guide and has an amazing feel about it.
A visit to Fountainhas also means a visit to Mrs Linda D'souza's gastronomic restaurant called "Viva Panjim".The food is authentic(Please please try the Pork Sorpotel,Prawn Curry rice and the chicken cafreal), the service quite good(Considering the fact that you are in Susegad land) and the benches laid out in the narrow alley add to the rustic charm.

The Age Old Kamat Hotel at 18th June Road
Kamat Hotel - (Near Panaji Church) - Are you Vegeterian and are sick of the fish, chicken and beef at Goa?No place to eat?Try the Kamat Hotel at Panaji near the Church.15years back, I used to go to this same hotel from my school and have my lunch. It's still the same and has not changed a bit, except the rates of course:-)...Try the Puri Bhaji and after that taste the Shira(Sweet Dish, basically yellow colored halwa)

You and the Sea
we guess you could be pretty pissed off about your 0900 AM to 0900 PM job schedule, grumpy about no increments in 2012,or about the fact that India again lost a cricket match...or whatever! So come to Goa....EAT...DRINK and MAKE MERRY and Forget TENSION:-)
