Malwan - Remains Of The Day
Although Malwan lies 514 Kms from Mumbai, a trip to this region is worth every penny. The imposing Sindhudurg Fort, the Malwani Cuisine, the clear waters of the Malwan coast, the cool backwaters leading to Tarkarli Beach, these moments stay with you long after you come back in the cacophony of the bustling city life! The Terrainspotter Team recently made a trip to the Malwan region and seeped in the many wonders that the place holds.

This Lizard was not too happy to be picked up at Malwan beach
Malwan has always been an important town of Maharashtra. Historically, Salt has been produced in large quantities in the Malwan region. The Malwani Hapus – Alphonso Mango has been traded since centuries. Sweetmeats like Malwani Ladoos and Malwani Khaja are also equally popular throughout!
There are hotels scattered across the various beaches of Malwan, although the smart thing to do before this journey is to do some research. Contact MTDC first : http://tinyurl.com/3t6y9tg as their resorts are always strategically placed at the best locations although they are almost always full. In the other case, it’s best to visit http://tinyurl.com/3h2nnbe and read reviews first and then take a call booking a hotel!
