When travelling around Wayanad area, it’s advisable to get a vehicle and a guide. The hotel/resort guys generally provide a vehicle along with a driver at reasonable rates. This driver acts as a guide who will take you through the different spots and help you with the tickets and permits for specific spots. As most of the Wayanad area is dense forest and paddy fields, there is nothing much to see after sunset. So start your day early and be back to your hotel by 6 pm. Also, minimum 3 days are required to cover in and around Wayanad, as some tourist places are a small drive away from the main town. So maximum you can cover 2 spots in a day at leisure.
Wyanad is very well connected by road, rail and air. The nearest city to Wayanad, is Kozhikode. It is connected to major cities like Mysore, Bangalore via NH212. Kozhikode also is connected by flights from Mumbai and Chennai. From Kozhikode, the Wayanad is around 95 kms.
