Trip Introduction

"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco - Mark Twain". I heard this on the hop on hop off bus during my amazing stay with Family at San Francisco. There's so much about this 'City By The Bay' that I can do three travelogues to cover the place, but I am gonna try it in one. Clean skies, clear blue bay waters, tall skyscrapers and vintage buildings, an amalgamation of cultures and a vibrant nightlife is what defines beautiful San Francisco. Weather that changes within hours so that you have 3 different seasons in one day is common. Scores of corporate crowd with Coffee in hand rushing to their work on the busy sidewalks by 8 AM is common. Thosands of tourists thronging Union Square or Fisherman's wharf making their way through Cable Cars or Hop On Hop Off buses is a daily affair. This was one city, where i immidiately felt like staying back...forever. Till that happens, let me try to take you on a journey through SFO and its outskirts.

How to get there

I travelled from India(Delhi to be precise) to San Francisco and that is a mighty long 12,341 Km away. There are two routes - via Dubai(Preferably Emirates) and via Tokyo or Hong Kong(Preferably Cathay Pacific or ANA Airlines). Be sure to book early as the ticket prices are anyways quite high (upwards of 75,000 INR per person). In case you are okay with a long stopover between the connecting flights, your cost will come down further. You can get the best deals on any of the OTA's like www.makemytrip.com or www.cleartrip.com.

Quick note :  In case you are travelling with an infant(Like we were with out 1 year old daughter), be sure to call three weeks in prior and book a front rwo seat with Basinet. There is always shortage for the same
