Working in a high pressure job, takes a toll on self. I was going through the same phase. I was looking for a weekend break away from hustle n bustle of the city. When I came across Dadhikar fort, I knew this was the place I wanted to go.
Dadhikar fort is located near Alwar and approx. 140 kms drive from Gurgaon. My drive from Gurgaon to the fort was somewhat like layers of onions. At each milestone the drive peeled away requirement for one materialist possession after another.
At start I left behind the high rises of Gurgaon. Driving on NH8, I was greeted with small hotels, shops and truck drivers. Further down on the beautiful state highway, 8 lane roads shrunk to 4 lanes. I felt better. I had lesser concrete and traffic to deal with. I was greeted with lush green Mustard fields, almost like a picturesque DDLJ “Ghar aajaa pardesi” moment.
Ghar aajaa pardesi moment
Driving along the fields, under the lined trees pushed me in a trance no music or alcohol can. I did not want my car any more. All I wanted was a motorbike to cruise along.
Wish I had a motorcycle to cruise along
5 Kms away from the hotel, I took a turn leading to a village. It only had a broken single lane road. In the city environment I would be baffled to see the condition. But not here. The village took me back to a simpler time, when the requirements were limited and people were happier.

Further down, the road disappeared completely. All that was available was a muddy pathway leading to the hotel a couple of Kms away. Sheer bliss. Now I did not even want my bike, I wanted to walk. In the middle of nowhere, lost: I wanted to walk!
